The Assembly of the Department of Political Sciences at its meeting on Friday, February 2, 2024 discussed the decision of the Senate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Wednesday 31.1.2024) regarding the organization of online exams because of the occupation of the buildlings from students and decided the following:
It is the belief of the faculty/staff that no online exam can or should substitute teaching and examination by physical presence.
Distance online examination is not protected both because of the possibilities of using artificial intelligence tools and because of the ease of collaboration between examinees. Online examination undermines the integrity of examinations, the objective assessment of examinees and ultimately the quality of students’ degrees and the value of public university education. The Department therefore expresses its opposition to the use of examinations of this form. However, given the above decision of the Senate:
The Department will begin the February examination period on Monday 5/2. If the occupation of the Department ends, the examinations will take place by physical presence.
Please folllow the instructions on elearning for each course and contact directly the instructor for further information. If you have courses from other schools, please contact the instructors too because some schools do not postpone the exams since there is no occupation.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
